Auxiliary Water Pumps
- Coolant Circulation Without the Engine

Modern engines cannot rely on a single mechanically driven pump. Start-stop systems, turbocharged powertrains, hybrid drivetrains, and cabin heating circuits all require coolant circulation to continue — independently of engine speed, or even when the engine is off.

HEPU® auxiliary water pumps are engineered to OE specification, ensuring reliable coolant flow in secondary circuits where a mechanical pump cannot operate. Electronically controlled and independently powered, they protect the engine, turbocharger, and heating system under all operating conditions.

Where Auxiliary Coolant Circulation Is Critical

When a start-stop system cuts the engine at a standstill, the mechanical water pump stops. Coolant circulation ceases. In turbocharged engines, heat from the turbocharger continues to build – and without an auxiliary electric pump maintaining flow, localised overheating follows. The same principle applies to cabin heating circuits in modern vehicles, where a secondary pump maintains hot coolant delivery independently of engine load.

Failure of the auxiliary water pump is among the most frequently misdiagnosed causes of cooling system temperature rise – often incorrectly attributed to a head gasket fault. Correct diagnosis begins with verifying auxiliary pump function.
