Thermal Management

Thermal Management
- Precise Engine Temperature Control

Modern engines no longer rely on a single cooling circuit running at a fixed temperature. Petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains all require precise, often electronically controlled temperature management – across multiple circuits, multiple operating phases, and increasingly narrow tolerance windows. A cooling system that simply “keeps the engine cool” is no longer sufficient. It needs to keep the engine at the correct temperature, at the correct moment, in the correct part of the system.

HEPU® Thermal Management brings together the components responsible for this direct, active temperature control: thermostats, coolant control valves, cooling system hoses, pipes and tubes, and expansion tanks. Each component is manufactured to OE specification, and the range is built to complete the thermal system alongside HEPU® water pumps and coolants – not replace one component in isolation.

Why Thermal Management Has Become Its Own Discipline

Engine temperature control used to be the job of a single thermostat. In current-generation engines, it is a coordinated system: electronically actuated control valves route coolant between multiple circuits, dedicated paths warm components faster after cold start to reduce emissions, and hybrid and electric vehicles require precise thermal control of batteries and power electronics that has no equivalent in a conventional engine.

This is why HEPU® treats thermal management as a defined product category, not an extension of the cooling system range. The components are engineered to OE specification individually, and to work together as one calibrated system.

Use the HEPU® parts catalogue to find the correct thermal management component for your application.

Key features

  • Complete component coverage for the cooling circuit.
HEPU® Thermal Management includes thermostats, coolant control valves, cooling system hoses, pipes and tubes, and expansion tanks - every component required for precise engine temperature regulation, manufactured to OE specification.
  • Engineered as one calibrated system.
Each component matches OE specification individually, but the range is designed to work together - coordinated temperature control across multiple circuits, not isolated parts sourced independently.
  • Built for the current vehicle parc.
Continuous range expansion for the newest combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicle platforms, including current-generation BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi applications.
  • Complements the wider HEPU® cooling portfolio
Designed to work alongside HEPU® mechanical and auxiliary electric water pumps, and HEPU® coolants and concentrates - covering the full cooling circuit from circulation to regulation to fluid specification.

Benefits

  • Precise, stable engine temperature across all operating phases
Coordinated thermostat and valve function maintains correct temperature from cold start through full load, supporting combustion efficiency and emissions compliance.
  • Protection against silent component failure
Hoses and tank housings degrade with heat cycling regardless of mileage; thermostats and valves can fail without obvious warning. OE-specification components reduce the risk of undetected failure leading to overheating.
  • Prevents secondary damage to the cooling system
A malfunctioning thermal management component places additional strain on the water pump and broader cooling circuit. Correct, timely replacement protects the rest of the system.
  • One category, one standard
Sourcing thermostats, valves, hoses, and tanks from one manufacturer to one quality standard eliminates the compatibility risk of mixed-source components.

Applications

  • Passenger cars
