Engine oil has a functional temperature window – too cold, and it fails to flow and lubricate correctly; too hot, and its viscosity breaks down, reducing the protective film between moving surfaces exactly when load is highest. Turbocharging, sustained high-speed driving, and towing all push oil temperature toward the upper end of this range, and modern extended service intervals mean degraded oil spends longer in service before replacement, compounding the effect of thermal stress.
The oil cooler is the component that keeps oil within its intended operating window. HEPU® oil coolers are manufactured to OE specification, matching the heat exchange capacity and flow geometry of the original component.
