A coolant concentrate is not simply “coolant before water is added.” It is a precisely formulated chemistry – corrosion inhibitors, lubricating additives, and freeze-point depressants – designed to be diluted to an exact ratio with demineralised water. Get that ratio wrong, or dilute with the wrong water, and the same concentrate that should protect the cooling system for 5 years can damage the water pump seal within weeks.
